The Department of USAID/OFDA is offering the FY 2008 Annual Program Statement (APS) for Program Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) Stage 3 designed to enhance disaster preparedness and response capacities in vulnerable countries within the Asia region. | Description: | USAID/OFDAs Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER) is a regional training program initiated by USAID/OFDA in 1998 to enhance disaster preparedness and response capacities of vulnerable countries within the Asia region. PEER was first implemented in four countries: Nepal, India, Indonesia and the Philippines. PEER Stage 2 started in 2003, continuing and expanding activities begun in the first stage, and adding Bangladesh and Pakistan as PEER countries. PEER Stage 2 will be completed by March 2009.
The PEER program conducts training on three principal courses: the Medical First Responder (MFR), Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR), and Hospital Preparedness for Emergencies (HOPE). |
