The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is offering the FY 2008 WIC EBT Pre-Planning Grant to WIC State agencies for planning activities related to Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) for the Women, Infants, and Children program. This grant is open to all WIC State agencies, including those with existing EBT projects. The funding will support Phase I Planning tailored to individual State agency needs for future EBT project implementation, as well as the development of data collection tools for assessing EBT costs on a national level. Grants will be awarded competitively, subject to fund availability, and do not guarantee future funding under WIC EBT grant solicitations.

| Description: | In accordance with Public Law 110-161, the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) plans to award grant funds to WIC State agencies to support WIC Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) planning activities. This Request for Application (RFA) for EBT Planning Grants is open to all WIC State agencies, including State agencies with existing WIC EBT projects. Grant funds are limited and will be awarded on a competitive basis, pending the availability of funds. The award of funds under this RFA does not guarantee funding under future WIC EBT grant solicitations.
The purpose of this RFA is twofold. Funds are intended for (1) Phase I Planning to address the specific needs of individual State agencies to facilitate eventual EBT project implementation and/or (2) to develop data collection tools for assessing EBT costs that can be used by State agencies nationwide. |
