Description: Operation Stonegarden (OPSG) provides funding to designated localities to enhance cooperation and coordination between Federal, State, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies in a joint mission to secure the United States borders along routes of ingress from International borders to include travel corridors in States bordering Mexico and Canada, as well as States and territories with International water borders.In FY 2009, OPSG has been enhanced to effectively address the constantly changing threats to our borders based upon new, emerging, and changing intelligence. The FY 2009 OPSG funds must be used to increase operational capabilities of Federal, State, local and tribal law enforcement, promoting a layered, coordinated approach to law enforcement within U.S. border States and territories. As appropriated by the Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act of 2009 (Public Law 110-329), the FY 2009 OPSG provides $60,000,000 for local units of government at the county level or equivalent and Federally-recognized tribes that apply for Federal funds through the State Administrative Agency (SAA). The FY 2009 OPSG funds provide a flexible framework of funding to support operational efforts along our Nation’s borders, such as the prevention of, and operational response to illegal activities.* Please note that these required forms may fall under either the mandatory or optional document headings in the application package. Please reference the grant guidance document for instructions and specific information regarding attachments.
