Additional Information

Agency Name: National Institutes of Health
Description: -This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institutes of Health, is a reissuance of PAR-04-073, Collaborative Clinical Trials in Drug Abuse, published in the NIH Guide for Contracts and Grants, March 9, 2004 at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-04-073.html. This announcement provides guidelines for the development, review, and funding of Collaborative Clinical Trials in Drug Abuse (CCTDA) through the solicitation of Research Project Grant (R01) applications from institutions/organizations that propose to carry out clinical trials using a common protocol at collaborating sites. One of the sites should be the coordinating site for the trial. Each site must submit a separate R01 application. Although a foreign institution may be a participating site, the coordinating site must be a domestic institution. -Purpose. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) seeks to increase the collaboration of investigators at different sites in order to address critical issues in the treatment of substance-related disorders that require sample sizes greater than a single site can reasonably attain. The expectation for the collaborative effort is that there will be implementation of common clinical trials across different sites in order to study patient outcomes, patient factors, provider factors, setting characteristics, interactions of these, or other effects where pooled samples are appropriate and necessary for the hypotheses under consideration. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism.
