The National Cancer Institute, along with NIDDK and NIAAA, is offering grants to support research on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The grant aims to explore the etiology, prevention, and treatment of HCC by studying its mechanisms, developing animal models, creating preventive strategies, and devising diagnostic tools and therapies. The focus is on basic biology, prevention, and treatment of liver cancer. This grant supports R01 projects, excluding solely population studies and epidemiology. The funding is contingent on availability and merit of applications. Closing date for applications is September 7, 2011.
