The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is offering grants for a Summer Institute for Training in Biostatistics to introduce basic principles and methods of biostatistics to undergraduates, recent graduates, and beginning graduate students. The purpose is to encourage them towards careers in biostatistics, with a focus on heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders research. The courses will cover probability, statistical reasoning, and inferential methods through real-world examples. Applications are invited for developing, conducting, and evaluating these summer courses that will take place in 2013, 2014, and 2015 with scope for refinements after the initial sessions.
