This department is offering the grant to fund research aimed at developing best practices for in-patient and out-patient care of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) and/or Alzheimer’s Disease, specifically focusing on addressing long-term health problems faced by military personnel. The research should involve a multi-institutional team to assess standards of care, develop best practices to reduce burden on caregivers and patients, and have a dissemination plan to implement new standards of care. The ultimate goal is to improve quality of life for patients and reduce caregiver burden, with a focus on benefiting both military and civilian communities.
