This grant is aimed at collaborating with Tribal Colleges and Universities to assess current coursework for developing an undergraduate degree program in natural and cultural interpretation. Recommendations for new classes will be made, and collaboration with Tribes and the NPS will lead to the design of interpretive courses focusing on skills, philosophy, and research in tribal stories. The goal is to give voice to American Indians in the field of interpretation. Application deadline is July 15, 2013.

Description:: : To assist the National Park Service in working with Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCU) to evaluate existing coursework at the Tribal Colleges to determine what can be used to package an undergraduate degree program in the field of natural and cultural interpretation and to make recommendations for new classes that would need to be added to the course offerings at the TCUs. Eventually SFASU will be asked to work with the Tribes and the NPS in the design for undergraduate interpretive courses to be offered in the skills and philosophy of Interpretation as well as the delicate balance of interpretive research, collection and evaluation of the tribal stories.
