The purposes of this amendment are to:

1. Revise the final deadline for submission of Applications from 20 January 2009 to 28 February 2009 at 4 p.m. local Dhaka time.

2. Revise the closing date of the APS from 20 January 2009 to 28 February 2009 at 4 p.m. local Dhaka time.

3. Primarily focus the funding of future Applications under this APS to programs in which the geographic area of intervention is the Sundarbans Reserve Forest, forest boundary zones and the Sundarbans Ecologically Critical Area in Bagerhat, Khulna, Patuakhali, and Satkhira. USAID/Bangladesh strongly recommends that focus also be given to those off-shore islands in these targeted areas that constitute part of the ecological and economic landscape. Applicants must demonstrate how their programs will meet the environment-specific results and indicators listed in A.4 of the APS, as well as other results and indicators listed. All other geographic area requirements of this APS have already been met. Applications for a maximum of $3.8 million will be considered.

All other terms and conditions of the APS remain in full force and effect.

This modification is to accomplish the following:
1) to incorporate the attached Questions and Answers (Q&A) document;
2) to add an additional submission date of November 6, 2008. Subject to the availability of funds, there are now a total of three possible submission deadlines: August 19, 2008, November 6, 2008, and January 20, 2009;
3) to incorporate a closing time of 10AM, local Dhaka time on the given deadlines;
4) on page 11, Section B.1, paragraph 6, delete the following sentence: "Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis as they are received." Applications will be evaluated after the three submission deadlines only, subject to the availability of funds.
5)Applicants are advised that the only two means of submitting an application are in hard copy or electronically via the www.grants.gov website. Email and fax submissions will not be accepted.
