Additional Information

Agency Name: Bureau of Land Management
Description: This Funding Announcement is not a request for applications. This announcement is to provide public notice of the Bureau of Land Management’s intention to fund the following project activities without full and open competition. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Great Basin Bird Observatory (GBBO) will partner to collect baseline inventory data and long- term monitoring of sage grouse, pygmy rabbits, migratory birds and other sensitive species located at the Shoshone Range OHV. The information provided to land managers by monitoring for change allows them to make decisions about management strategies based on the relationship of desired conditions to current conditions. While human impacts may change the nature of a recreation site, the amount of change tolerated on any site is a managerial decision. Informed managerial decisions allow for the creation of sustainable recreation environments; however, effective decisions can only be made within an informed framework of biological site data collection. The GBBO is uniquely qualified as a partner as they are the leading expert on the birds of the Great Basin and Nevada; are experienced in BLM data collection protocol through Assistance Agreement projects at the Elko District Office of the BLM, as well as, have qualified personnel available at this remote location to conduct the project.
