Additional Information

Agency Name: Geological Survey
Description: The purpose of this funding opportunity is to facilitate the formulation of a hierarchical Ecosystem Classification system for the lower Columbia River and estuary to collate habitat information and to aid in the formulation of an Ecosystem Classification System for the lower Columbia River and estuary. There is a current need to publish the results of our efforts to disseminate the concepts and information resulting to scientists and policy makers. There is also a continuing need to further develop and refine the classification to maximize its utility to those charged with conducting research or managing the natural resources of the lower Columbia River and estuary. Given the current efforts to monitor ecological conditions and conduct restoration efforts in the lower Columbia River and estuary, the dissemination of this information will help scientists in the efficient design and analyses of these efforts thus providing a service to the public. Thus, there is a need for the timely publication of this information. In lieu of this funding, the concepts and data associated with our efforts will not likely become available for several more years.

Funding for FY08 in the amount of $10,000 is available. 4 option years may be available based upon the availability of funds and satisfactory progress
