| Description: | The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Global Health (GH) is issuing this Request for Applications (RFA) for a five-year, $240 million, Leader with Associates (LWA) Cooperative Agreement to build upon its extensive work in expanding contraceptive choices and family planning (FP) and reproductive health (RH) programs. The name RESPOND stands for Responding to the Need for Family Planning through Expanded Contraceptive Choices and Program Services, and is used throughout this document to refer to this activity.
The concept for the RESPOND activity was developed in the Office of Population and Reproductive Health (PRH) Service Delivery Improvement (SDI) Division by a design team that included representatives from other divisions as well as SDI, and several experts that work Bureau wide. The design also benefited from the findings of a participatory evaluation of the ACQUIRE Cooperative Agreement, an analysis of use of long acting and permanent methods of contraception (LAPMs), trends and needs, and a survey of priorities from Missions, other PRH Divisions, GH Offices and USAID regional Bureaus. |
