The Department of the Interior is offering a grant to implement fish passage features at the Yakima Project’s five large storage dams. This cooperative investigation aims to restore salmon populations, genetic diversity, and reconnect isolated populations of bull trout by providing fish passage at Bumping Lake, Kachess, Keechelus, Cle Elum, and Tieton dams. The project has the potential to reintroduce sockeye salmon to the watershed and enhance the habitats of upper basin steelhead, coho salmon, and chinook salmon.
