This Department of Transportation grant is aimed at funding the completion of a Tier I Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) study on transportation alternatives between Atlanta and Chattanooga. With funds from Congress, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) transferred $6,690,857 to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for this project. The grant includes provisions for a state match and aims to finalize the EIS and the draft Record of Decision for the Intermodal Transportation Corridor from Atlanta to Chattanooga. The current grant aims to utilize the remaining $759,403 in Federal funds with a match from GDOT to successfully conclude the project by the closing date of Jan 18, 2013.
