This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R03) award mechanism and runs in parallel with an FOA of identical scientific scope, PA-07-226, that solicits applications under the R01 mechanism and PA-07-227 that solicits applications under the R21 mechanism. Applications of related or identical scientific scope are solicited also under the Academic Research Enhancement Award (R15) (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-06-042.html). -The R03 grant mechanism supports different types of projects including pilot and feasibility studies; secondary analysis of existing data; small, self-contained research projects; development of research methodology; and development of new research technology. |
