Description: The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is interested in receiving proposals in support of the Science, Math, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Defense Education Program National Defense Education Act is part of a concentrated effort by the office of the Director, Defense Research and Engineering (DDR&E) to improve the flow of new, highly skilled technical labor into Department of Defense (DoD) laboratories and Agencies and to enhance the technical skills of the workforce already in place. The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is the executive agent for the SMART program. This activity augments efforts of other programs such as; the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program (NDSEG), National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program, and the Naval Research Lab Fellowships.
