| Description: | Purpose. To establish the George M. OBrien Urology Research Centers to create a research community for major clinical urologic diseases and syndromes within the NIDDK mission interests. The broad objectives of these centers are to: 1) advance research and insight into clinical urologic diseases and syndromes; 2) provide an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary foundation and resource for collaboration among clinical, translational, and basic science researchers in the field of urologic disease; 3) attract established investigators with unique scientific expertise and new investigators to study urological diseases and disorders within NIDDK mission interests; and 4) integrate urologic research into the surrounding institution.
Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the P50 grant mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The NIDDK intends to commit approximately up to $2 million dollars in FY 2009 to fund up to two new and/or competing continuation grants in response to this FOA. |
