| Description: | Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by NIEHS and EPA solicits grant applications for Research Centers to support a multidisciplinary program of basic and applied research to examine the effects of environmental factors on childrens health and well-being. Research conducted through the Centers should include substantive areas of science in childrens health while incorporating innovative technologies and approaches and links to the environment. The revised program encourages strong links between disciplines in the basic, applied, clinical and public health sciences to prevent disease and promote health in all children.
Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the P01 grant mechanism and the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Research and Development, National Center for Environmental Research STAR (Science to Achieve Results) programadministered in accordance with 40 CFR Part 30 and 40.Responsibility for the planning, direction, and execution of the proposed project will be solely that of the applicant Investigators proposing research programs that include elements at varying stages of maturity should refer to the companion FOA for Formative Centers.This FOA runs in parallel with RFA-ES-08-004 that solicits applications under the P20 mechanism. |
