The Department of Health is offering the NIH Developmental Psychopharmacology Grant (R01) to fund research examining the neurobiological impact of psychotherapeutic medications on the immature brain. Emphasis is placed on mapping the developmental profile of physiological responses to psychotropic agents used in treating mental disorders in children. This grant supports studies in model systems and human populations. Funding is provided through the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism, with the potential for variations in award size and duration based on the proposed research projects. This grant aims to enhance understanding of the effects of psychotropic medications on pediatric brain development.

Responsive research includes -studies in model systems, including animals, and in human populations. -Mechanism of Support. This funding opportunity will use the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism. Applications of related or identical scientific scope are solicited also under the Small Research Grant (R03) and the Exploratory/Developmental Grant (R21) award mechanisms, responding to FOAs PA-06-180 and PA-06-181, respectively. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards.
