The National Institutes of Health is offering a grant aimed at advancing research on the molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying adverse drug reactions in children. This grant, utilizing the R01 award mechanism, seeks to enhance understanding in this critical area of pediatric pharmacology. Funding will depend on the quality and scope of submitted proposals, with varying award sizes and durations. Applicants should adhere to the closing date of May 20, 2010, for consideration.

| Description: | -Purpose. This FOA encourages projects that enhance the state-of-the-science on the molecular and cellular, genetic and epigenetic mechanisms involved in the production of adverse drug reactions in children. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01 grant) award mechanism and runs in parallel with an FOA of identical scientific scope, PAR-08-249 , that solicits applications under the R03 grant mechanism. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications. Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the mechanism numbers, quality, duration, and costs of the applications received. |
