This program aims to support State and local efforts in building, developing, and expanding high-quality preschool programs to prepare more children from low- and moderate-income families for kindergarten and beyond. Expansion Grants are available to states with strong existing State Preschool Programs or Race to the Top-Early Learning Challenge grants, helping them reach additional eligible children in high-need communities. Applications must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov by October 21, 2014. The initiative is jointly administered by the Departments of Education and Health and Human Services to enhance school readiness and long-term positive outcomes, especially for children from low-income families.
