The USCG offers the FY 2012 Non-Profit Boating Safety Grant Program to support National Recreational Boating Safety Program activities. Established under the Federal Boat Safety Act of 1971, this grant program allocates up to 5% of the total state financial assistance available each year to eligible national nonprofit public service organizations. The goal is to promote cooperative efforts between the USCG and states’ boating safety programs, enhancing boat construction standards, defect correction oversight, and boat operator requirements. Eligible U.S. territories can also benefit from this initiative. Deadline for applications is on Jan 27, 2012.
