The Washington, DC Historical Society is offering a research grant to continue documenting the local history of African American communities during and after the Civil War. This grant is dedicated to conducting an ethnography study of Civil War Contraband communities from 1861 to 1877 in the Washington, DC area. The closing date for applications is August 22, 2013.
