This Department of Labor grant aims to support the independent trade union movement in the Middle East, enhance women’s empowerment in the labor sector, and promote labor rights in countries like Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, and Yemen. The program focuses on building relationships among Arab trade unions, promoting regional cooperation, and sharing best practices. Additionally, funding will target initiatives to improve social dialogue, labor laws, inclusiveness of trade union structures, and capacity building for political participation in Morocco. In Burma, the grant seeks to enhance workers’ rights by providing capacity building and technical support to union organizations, facilitating a peaceful transition in the country.
